Itinerary

Days 1-2: USA or Canada/Shanghai, China

Depart on an overnight flight to Shanghai where you are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Located on the famous Nanjing Road, the luxurious Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai offers incredible access to the city’s fashionable shopping district and cultural attractions.

Day 3: Shanghai

Start your day with a stroll through Yu Garden, a magnificent private garden and residence from the 16th-century Ming Dynasty. This afternoon, visit the Shanghai Museum to view some of the most beautiful works of Chinese art in the world. In the evening, attend a Shanghai Acrobatic performance.

Day 4: Shanghai/Zhujiajiao/Shanghai

This morning, travel to Zhujiajiao, a fan shaped "water village" crisscrossed and connected by stone bridges. Admire the town’s ancient black-and-white buildings, many dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. After lunch, walk along the Bund, enjoying the view across the water of Pudong, a district of Shanghai that has emerged as China's financial and commercial center. This waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River used to be the site of the American and British Settlement, and to this day it boasts some of the most stately architecture in Shanghai. Travel through the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel for a light show and display of Shanghai life.

Day 5: Shanghai/Yichang

Fly to Yichang to board your luxury cruiser for a voyage through the legendary Three Gorges.

Days 6-8: Cruising the Yangzi River

Cruise the mighty Yangzi, enjoying its scenic splendor with stops at the Three Gorges. Visit a school to witness China's educational challenges firsthand.

Day 9: Chongqing/Xian

Disembark and explore the Huguang Guild Hall. Fly to Xian and visit the Yangling Museum that houses recent discoveries from the Han Dynasty tombs.

Day 10: Xian

Tour the tomb of Emperor Qin Shihuangdi and its Terra Cotta Warriors, constructed to safeguard the emperor’s passing into the afterlife. Then explore the Shaanxi Provincial History Museum, the finest museum of ancient Chinese history, and view thousands of ancient Chinese relics.

Day 11: Xian/Beijing

This morning, visit the Xian Museum, with more than 120,000 relics and of bronze, ceramics, pottery, gold and silver, as well as the world’s best collection of Tang Dynasty sculptures. Afterward, cycle along an Ancient Gate of the City Walls before flying to Beijing.

Days 12-13: Beijing

Spend two days at this legendary city's sites. Follow in the footsteps of emperors in the Forbidden City and wander through Tiananmen Square. Visit the impressive Temple of Heaven and walk the ramparts of the Great Wall.
